Easy Oriental Beef Stir-Fry
Ingredients
1 pound beef steak
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons peanut oil
2 cups cooked rice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Soy sauce
Sherry
Garlic
Preparation
Partially freeze the beef top round steak. When it becomes firm cut them lengthwise in half. Cut this portion into thin slices or strips and put across the grains. Heat the oil in the wok and add walnuts to it. Stir fry walnuts for 1-2 minutes. When they become brown remove from the wok.
Add water in the cornstarch and mix it thoroughly. It should not have any lumps, stir in sherry and sauce in the cornstarch mixture. In the wok add 1 tablespoon oil over medium heat. To this, add the garlic and beef strips and then stir fry it for some time. Remove this mixture from the wok and keep it aside. To the wok, add the remaining oil and cook the vegetables for couple of minutes and stir in between. Put in the beef strips mixture and add cornstarch so that the mixture boils and thickens slightly. You can serve this dish with rice and can also add some walnuts.
